Chiropractic Care for Sport Injuries
At Custom Chiropractor we focus on functional movements of the entire body to find muscle imbalances, compensational patterns and biomechanical dysfunction. The assessment starts with more general movements such as ranges of motion of the area of concern and a GAIT analysis to more sports specific movements such as squats, single leg stance, balance, upper and lower body strength. Based on the findings, we write a specific rehabilitation program for the patient to achieve greater performance, fix improper patterns and reduce the risk of injury.
Chiropractic care has been shown to successfully treat a number of sports injuries including shoulder, wrist, elbow, ankle and knee injuries. Our approach to chiropractic care starts at a more passive approach at the acute stage of injury to an active approach when the inflammation has reduced. We use myofascial release, mobilizations, Graston technique and cupping to get our patients back to their pre-injury state.
We have worked with a variety of athletes, from competitive dancers to recreational cricket players to weekend golfers. Creating the right plan for our patients is important as well as tracking the progress made. At every visit, we go through exercises and stretches that can be advantageous for the patient’s sport. Since every sport requires different focuses and every athlete is distinct, the plan is made specifically for the patient’s needs.
Custom Chiropractor has partnered with various yoga studios and gyms in the Bay area to make the transition from the clinic table to the gym floor easier, attainable and injury free.
